Zane Metcalfe A lovely quiet collection from one of the sweetest voices in music today. Perfect for late nights and cold days. Favorite track: Switchbacks.

Charliebird i return to this track over the years. the lyrics, the large reverb and birds in the background, and the vocal performance, it is all... just perfect. "How can any place so lifeless tell us anything true about life?" followed by that final lyric. i'm educated, confronted, fascinated and emotionally cleaned out by a 2min song that sounds like it's out of a smithsonian folk ballad collection for wry scientists. i want it to be a standard you will find in songbooks.
it's a gem. share it. Favorite track: The Biology Building.

about

Two years before Shearwater's Palo Santo, JM made this off-the-cuff solo record in two days at the home of producer and fellow Austinite Brian Beattie. Recorded live to 2-track tape, and never issued in print except for a handful of burned copies, this haunting, subdued mini-album features Beattie's whimsical bass playing and a young-sounding Meiburg playing guitar and singing.
